Thank you for considering serving our community as a member of the Lydia Place Board of Directors.
Our Board is critical to the success of the organization and the Board’s first and most important role is as the governing body, guiding the organization toward its vision and mission while ensuring sound practices and fiscal management.
In addition to the critical duties of Care and Loyalty, Lydia Place relies on the Board of Directors to support the organization in living out its values: Equity, Community, Upstream Impact, and Employee Wellness.
We also ask our Board members to each serve as Ambassadors of the organization to elevate the work of Lydia Place and raising community awareness of the issues that impact homelessness. This work not only builds awareness, but it motivates community members, groups, and businesses to get involved by giving their time, talents, and financial support.
Lydia Place is committed, in accordance with our values, to cultivating a Board that represents the community at large and reflects the community we serve. We welcome interest from individuals from marginalized groups and those who have experiences with poverty and homelessness.
In accordance with our value of Equity and our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we continually evaluate the expectations we place on Board members to ensure we are reducing barriers to participation, particularly for low-income and marginalized members of our community. We do not require previous board experience as a requirement to be on our Board and invite anyone who believes they can positively contribute to the work of Lydia Place, to apply. As our value of Community states, “Everyone has something to offer to this work”.
If interested in applying to serve on our Board of Directors, please complete our Volunteer Form located here, and we will be in touch with you.
Thank you for your consideration of this special and critical volunteer role! We look forward to speaking with you about your interest and qualifications.
Sincerely,
Shawna Unger
Board President
