Accounting Coordinator

POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR

SALARY RANGE: $23.64-$28.49/hour, 40 hours/week, non-exempt 

Candidate offers consider experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
Entry salary typically in the first third of the range. 

BENEFITS PACKAGE: Paid time off for this position includes up to 4 weekly wellness hours, 19 days of PTO in the first year of employment (PTO includes sick time), and 12 paid holidays per year. Other benefits include agency-sponsored medical/dental insurance (current premium covered at rate of 100% for the employee), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), premium Calm meditation app subscription, and employer retirement plan contribution (current rate of 3%) after first year of employment. POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Coordinator is an office-based position that provides support in accounting, data entry, and other duties to the Financial Manager in the processing and management of cash disbursements, cash receipts, donor tracking, payroll, financial recordkeeping, financial reporting, and clerical/support services.  Lydia Place has an operating budget in excess of $4,500,000 and a staff of an average of 45 individuals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated experience equivalent to Associates in Science degree in Accounting AND  
  • Two years of experience directly applicable to the duties of this position (non-profit accounting experience preferred), OR any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual’s knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed below 
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and proficiency in using accounting software and Excel 
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software preferred 
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people  
  • Proficiency with word processing, Microsoft Office programs, and cloud-based internet software 
  • Completion of background investigation that includes social security verification, professional reference checks, and a federal criminal background investigation.  
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and proof of insurance required 
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Russian, or Sign Language preferred 

Due to Washington State mandate, all Lydia Place employees and volunteers are required to have full COVID-19 vaccination and ability to furnish proof of such by first day of work for continued employment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Assist with accounting functions and carry out fiscal operations, according to a fund-based, accrual accounting system conforming to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 
  • Process invoices for payment, including authorization, coding, data entry, and recordkeeping 
  • Process credit card charges, including authorization, coding, data entry, and recordkeeping 
  • Record donations and coordinate with Fundraising team to generate donation receipts 
  • Assist with fundraising event financial tracking and recordkeeping 
  • Coordinate with internal property manager to process rent payments and maintain rental records 
  • Assist with bank deposits and recordkeeping 
  • Assist with billing, monitoring, and reporting for contracts and grants 
  • Assist with compilation of statistics and preparation of financial reports 
  • Assist with evaluation and refinement of systems 
  • Maintain financial file system organization and security 
  • Coordinate appropriate and secure storage of financial archives 

ADMINISTRATIVE AND OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Assist with maintaining donor database and preparing donor reports 
  • Adhere to applicable standards and ‘statements of work’ pertaining to this position as required by agency contracts 
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times, except when compelled to share information by law or when client has signed a release of information 
  • Support other teams (e.g., Community Engagement, Operations) as appropriate 
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
